On it to instantly grab 50 rings and become Super Sonic. Level Select - Before we reveal this cheat to you, make sure you have a Sonic 2 cartridge, otherwise this WILL NOT work. Next, insert Sonic 2, enter the Sonic 2 level select, and play sounds 19, 65, 9, and 17. Return to the title screen, hold A, and press Start. Sonic the Hedgehog was meant to be the Sonic game of the decade, because it was the first game in the series on the, at the time, next-generation consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, the game was rushed for release, which is why there are some drawbacks to what could have been the greatest title in the series.

Sonic Mania unlockables give you more incentive to replay than the average Sonic game, ranging from new moves based on classic Sonic games to modes that change the way you play.

We'd recommend at least playing through some of Sonic Mania before reading on for spoiler purposes, and to read up on how to master Sonic Mania special stages to unlock and see everything on offer.

If you have purchased the Encore or Sonic Mania Plus upgrades, note the following is the same as the base version released in 2017.

How to use Level Select in Sonic Mania

Activating Level Select differs slightly from platform to platform. First, unlock Debug Mode and enabled it. Then on the save selection screen of Mania Mode, highlight the No Save option on the far right, then press the following button combination:

• Sonic Mania PS4 Level Select: Options, Triangle and Square. (Thanks to reader lanerobertlane for the tip.)
• Sonic Mania Switch Level Select: Options, hold Y and start the game with the A button.
• Sonic Mania Xbox One Level Select: Menu button, Y and X together. (Thanks to Viktormoros for the tip.)

Note of the above appears to work in 'Encore' mode.

How to unlock Debug Mode, Super Peel Out and activate other Sonic Mania cheats

Playing the main Mania mode will unlock a number of new moves and abilities. You unlock the following by collecting Blue Sphere medals:

• Sonic CD move Super Peel-Out
• Sonic 3 and K move Insta-Shield
• Debug Mode
• And Knuckles

To use cheats such as alternate modes, And Knuckles and Debug, you must go into Mania Mode and hover over the 'No Save' icon on the right. Next, press Triangle (or Y on Xbox, or X on Switch) to activate these options. Here is how you use each mode:

• And Knuckles will add Knuckles as a second character, even to Knuckles!
• Debug is activated by pressing Triangle (or Y on Xbox, or X on Switch), then the jump buttons to place and rotate through options.
• Mania's move is a Drop Dash (hold jump in the air), Sonic CD's by holding Up then jump, and Sonic 3 and K Insta-Shield by pressing jump in the air.

Finally, since the release of Sonic Mania Plus, a new set of cheats has been revealed, thanks to CodenameGamma on Reddit (via Sonic Stadium). You need to use the Level Select cheat as described earlier, allowing you reach a screen where you can enter the sound test.

Next, enter the sounds in this following order to unlock the respective cheat. You'll know you are successful when you hear a sound effect.

• 4126 - Unlock all emeralds
• 6214 - Disable Super Music
• 9001 - Unlock all Sonic moves (Dropdash, Super Peel Out, Insta-Shield)
• 19790811 - Changes all animals into squirrels
• 19890501 - Does nothing, or unlocks all Medals
• 19921124 - Infinite Continues
• 20170815 - Egg Reverie flying in any levels instead of Super Sonic
• 20180623 - Force Encore Mode

How to unlock new modes and Extra secrets in Sonic Mania

Upon completing the first stage of Sonic Mania, the following two options are unlocked on the main menu, which offer more stages the further into the Mania Mode you go:

• Time Attack (speed run mode on individual zones)
• Competition (split-screen local competition, based on Sonic 2)

Venturing into the Extras menu will show three additional unlockables. These, as hinted by the grid of 32 icons in the bottom right corner of the screen, are additional modes unlocked by playing the Blue Sphere special stages.

The good news is, you don't need to unlock any gold medals to get these (it's seemingly just to unlock an additional Achievement / Trophy). Cara cheat game rules of survival. Get all 32 (at least) silver Medals to unlock:

• Mean Bean (Puyo Puyo mini-game playable against the computer or another player)
• Blue Spheres (mini-game in original and Mania modes)
• D.A. Garden (sound test)

Secret agent dos game cheats. You don't have to unlock these Medals in a single playthrough - instead, they are accumulated across all sessions. That means you can restart the opening level over and over if you wish to unlock them faster.

• 14 Continues

Go to the sound test (not the one on the level select) and put in 19, 65, 09, 17, 01, 01, 02, 04 (press A after each one). There won't be a confirmation sound. Start the game by pressing Start on the first option (character select) and you should have 14 continues.

• Change Tails' name to Miles in game above lives

Press Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Up at the title screen.

• Debug Mode

Go to Sound Test in the options and enter sounds: 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4. Level Select sound test might be needed to enter the code.

• Get Super Sonic on Emerald Hill

First, you enter the stage select code, shown above. Then you go into the Special Stage in the stage select menu. Every time you finish the special stage press reset and go back to the special stage. Keep doing this until you get the sixth emerald. Then you don't press reset. It will just zap you with your six emeralds into emerald hill. Get the last emerald on Emerald Hill get 50 rings and jump to be super sonic. Be careful to not run out of rings or else you will change into Sonic again. The rings start dissapearing when you are Super sonic.

• Infinite Lives

First, enable the level select cheat and the debug mode which are available here. For this to work, you must choose Sonic and Tails as the players.
After entering the codes, choose any stage from the level select menu(preferrably stage 1)
As soon as you can move Sonic, hold down, and press C(don't let go of down on the D-pad). This will activate Sonic's spin; Tails will copy the Sonic spin also.
Press the B button and Sonic will become the Debug cursor.(Tails will be locked in the sonic spin move).
Press A until you(the debug cursor), displays an enemy sprite, like the monkey or that bee robot. Now that the debug cursor displays an enemy sprite, move the debug cursor to where Tails is, and repeatedly tap C.
This will produce enemies where Tails is, and since Tails is locked in the sonic spin move, he will destroy the enemies. As Tails destroys enemies in this position, press C more until the score for destroying an enemy increases from 100 to 8000 to a 1up. Once you have enough 1ups, press B again to revert to Sonic.

• Pseudo Super Sonic

In Oil Ocean Zone, if you manage to take a hit and end up landing in one of those green-and-gold checkered cannons, you'll fall right out, but you'll be moving at twice your normal speed as well as jumping twice your normal height(with twice as much gravity). A good place for doing this would be in Oil Ocean Zone, Act 2, near the first set of pop-tops and cannons. Just jump into the semi-hidden bed of spikes on the right and land in the cannon.

Note: Moving at twice normal velocity can often get you stuck in a wall. Also, this wears off if you Super Spin Dash or Spin Dash. It also only lasts for that Act.

• Slow Motion

Weird trick, but you can play this game in slow motion. First, enter the level select code, found somewhere in the list of all other codes. Then start your game in any level. When you start, press pause. Then hold down B button and try to do anything with Sonic. The game will play in slow motion as long as you hold down the B button.

• Super TAILS

Normally, when you turn into super sonic you lose tails behind you all the time.
Well, after you put in the debug cheat and have started a level (preferrably Emerald Hill), turn yourself into a box and place it somewhere on the floor WHILE you are super sonic. It should be a switch places box. Hit it and you will see tails will have a permanent invincible circle around him. He will stay like this through the whole level, he will keep up with super sonic or even out run him. A very fun glitch for 2 players.
